August 25, 2016 at 2:58 AMNice lesson! But could you by any chance spend some more time teaching us how to use some of the key words rather than just telling us what they mean? I realize some are formal/literary and so not very practically useful for everyday life, but still it would be nice to learn how to use them to make advanced sentences. For example some other examples of 涔涔, 潸潸,遮挽, 伶俐,掩,蒸融,游丝,不能平的 would have been helpful at least to me. I can find other often formal example sentences of these in my dictionaries, but it would be nice if you could say a few in your podcast too. I realize you can’t get to everything and going into this might be a little too nerdy for the general listener. but i think including some other examples of higher level words would help more advanced learners take more away in terms of language points from the podcast. Thanks.

August 3, 2016 at 3:00 AMExcellent lesson with a lot of nice vocab. I wish the dialogue download were part of the basic subscription so I could more easily review just that.

June 13, 2016 at 5:25 AMI think advanced users need to be able to talk about unfamiliar topics they may have zero interest in, so no matter what, this lesson is useful for people at this level. Hope you guys keep making more advanced-level, "boring" lessons like this one :)

January 24, 2016 at 9:17 AMhi Cpod, couple questions: what's the most common pronunciation of 忍辱? in the podcast you say ren3ru4, in the dialogue it seems to be ren3zhu3, and in the dictionary it's ren3ru3? also, could you please give me some more example sentences with 情义? i heard in the podcast 通常他们都背负着一些责任或者是情义上面这这事情. thanks

June 4, 2015 at 1:32 AMThe old Chinesepod team really did a great job all those years! I learned a ton during my time using this site. Now I'm looking forward to going back through a lot of old material. The new team now is also doing a great job! Thanks Chinesepod!

June 3, 2015 at 5:22 AMThis was a nice lesson that I think well fits the advanced level. A lot of the recent advanced lessons have been too easy in my opinion--such as the 水母咬我 story or the lesson about the 猫奴. This one is appropriate because of the more formal register (I think you should keep most of the easier 口语 stuff for upper-intermeidate at the highest) and because there are enough upper-level expressions like 轩然大波、断章取义、置....于不顾、民间疾苦... I realize that easier lessons can appeal to more people, but after all this is advanced... Overall, I really dig Chinesepod and wish there were more new, truly advanced lessons like this one.
