June 9, 2011 at 3:19 PMThis is interesting. Last Spring my wife and I visited a primary school in 荆州. As part of the visit a dozen girls who were 10 or 11 years old danced on stage for us. They played rock music and it was like watching kids on MTV. They danced like "no one is watching." They had all of the moves, and were having a blast. I really doubt if they had dance lessons given that this is a fairly poor area. This visit was part of a river cruise we took 从重庆到南京. 我们都玩得很开心！

May 30, 2011 at 2:52 PMActually, 地 is used before a verb or adjective linking it to a preceding *modifying adverbial adjunct.* 的 is used before a noun linking it to a preceding possessive or descriptive attribute.
I think 它们赶紧地喊 is correct since 赶紧 is an adverb. John?

May 11, 2011 at 3:57 PM(o; I've never heard the word memory used to refer to hard disk drives in my 45 years or so of experience in this domain.
Memory initially referred to where the CPU could execute code or instructions of a running program. In the early days we had core memory and then moved to solid state memory or what we call RAM in the late 1970's. While core memory saved its state when the power is off, and RAM does not, RAM is incredibly fast and well, we all know what the micro computers and Moore's Law have brought to computing.
We then have Virtual Memory which is hard drive storage(or now Flash drive memory- see below) where parts of a currently running program's (there may be several) code that is not being executed resides pending possible execution. I think you know the expression Swapped when we say a program is being Swapped in and out of memory or RAM. Etc ... Storage is used to refer to disk drive space that contains both software and other data.
These distinctions have become somewhat blurred with the introduction of flash "memory" and this may to what you are referring. We now see Flash Memory Drives, Flash Memory Sticks, etc.. It is important to note that flash memory access is much slower than hard disk drives, and of course, RAM access leaves them both in the dust.
Flash memory drives have revolutionized hand held devices because it is NOT mechanical and thus its power requirements can be satisfied by batteries. So, our favorite devices like iPhones can have 32Gigs of flash or so, and underneath the hood I hear there is 512Megs of RAM. AMAZING!
