October 19, 2012 at 7:43 AM赤 has always been somewhat easy for me to remember since I visited a buddy in Japan, where 赤 seems to be used a the designated character for red, like in Red Bull.

October 18, 2012 at 3:49 AMGood question. I find it relatively easy to pick up words that are used in Mandarin much more commonly, like 参加、方便、关系, but more difficult to stop using words or phrases that are more frequent in English.
