啊！非公开地出租的车子是包车，对吧？那个包的意思应该一样的。What about booths in restaurants that aren't actually closed off? I haven't seen these in the mainland, but diners usually have them.

I wasn't that surprised when I heard Dilu's reaction about bread not being 面食. This type of separation between foreign and domestic happens all the time, but it's in no way limited to China or Chinese people. If I asked my friends here, Chinese and foreign alike, if they wanted to go eat Lanzhou pasta, they would correct me and say that pasta can only be applied to Italian noodles, and by extension, countries whose proximity or cultural relation is still quite close. However, there are huge varieties found in Italian and Chinese pasta/noodles, and similarities can be found everywhere.

房子 has a lot of ambiguity, but two words mentioned in the dialogue, apartment and condominium, also can be quite ambiguous. In the US I often hear people talking about "buying apartments", when really what they mean is that they've bought a condominium. I admittedly used to say this as well. It can be difficult to tell the difference, as they can be one and the same physically, but the type of ownership marks a change.

How does one say "the notice says" like we would say in English? I feel like a direct translation here would be inappropriate.

反正邓小平原来说“不管白猫黑猫，能抓到老鼠就是好猫”。四川也有句俗语，叫做：“黄猫、黑猫，只要抓住老鼠就是好猫。”

其实说我觉得你们中国博客的形式挺好的，会让我们懂怎么用“也好。。。。。。也好”。
