Hi orangina

Here is a link to 《现代汉语量词用法词典》 (Modern Chinese Measure Words Usage Dictionary) sold in a Chinese online bookstore. This dictionary has 234 pages and lists about 600 measure words with many examples and a detailed explanation. It also has a very useful appendeix "常用名词/量词搭配一览表".

Hi pinkjeans

In 普通话, you don't usually say 一粒苹果, but of course, 一粒苹果种子(seed) is OK. I hear that people in some southern regions (福建?) say 一粒鸡蛋, so I guess that 一粒苹果 might also be OK there.

一梳香蕉 is new to me. My measure word dictionary says it's a Cantonese dialect. As you said, a bunch of bananas really looks like a comb (梳子)! As for 一件, sorry I have no clue at the moment.

P/S Cantonese people use 件 instead of 块, just like 一件蛋糕 and 两件肉.

Hi architpol

I don't think the sentence "你到哪儿去?" particularly emphasizes "where", but, come to think of it, this might place slightly more emphasis on "where" than "你去哪儿?". For example, you would say "去哪儿?" as a kind of greeting to a neighbor on the street, but not say "到哪儿去?", perhaps.

Hi christine30550

I guess that 关注过 might be more appropriate.

我现在才发现农民工当然也有"80后"。我怎么一直没有意识到呢?好像是因为我对中国"80后"的刻板印象相当深,觉得有点惭愧。

Hi melbourne

roughly speaking,
橙子 orange
橘子 tangerine

橙子 is much more expensive than 橘子 in China.

Hi brianhz

多长 can also be used for "time", like 多长时间 (how long). As you said, 多久 is only used in terms of time.

In addtition to pete's explanation on 封, this character has a very long history, and it dates back to the era of oracle bone scripts (before circa 1,000 BC). More surprisingly, 封 had already been used in the sense of "fief" (封土) in those days, which shows the existence of feudal system then. The earliest version of this character consists of only two parts, 土 (soil) and 木 (tree) , which probably implies that ancient people planted trees to mark the boundaries of land.

Hi bodawei

The person's remark must be an exaggeration, but there is some truth to it. Actually, to use measure words properly is rather difficult and cumbersome even for native speakers. I was surprised to find that there are about 600 measure words listed in a small dictionary called 现代汉语量词用法词典 I bought at 12 yuan the other day. Furthermore, they show more than twenty different measure words that are used for "人" under different conditions, hehe. That said, thankfully you don't have very high number of "frequently used in eveyday conversation" measure words.............perhaps, or I hope so.

Hi architpol

Both "你到哪儿去?" and "你去哪儿?" have the same meaning. The 到 means "go, arrive, reach", but it virtually works as a preposition "to" in this case. So "你到哪儿去?" should be understood as "你(you)到(to)哪(where)去(go)?" Pls be noted it's not an "authentic" explanation, hehe.
