November 26, 2007 at 2:01 AMHi Bazza, Besides 差不多, you probably have the following options. 我每天都学中文大约两个小时。 我每天都学中文两个小时左右。 我每天都学大约两个小时的中文。 我每天都学两个小时左右的中文。 But I’m not 100% sure, so let me say “Is it correct to say?”

November 24, 2007 at 10:45 AMHi a1pi2, It’s not that I really wanted to talk of my dog here today, but that I didn’t have the guts to refer to Jenny when the topic is kissing. Bazza certainly has.

November 24, 2007 at 7:42 AMHi auntie68, I made a big mistake as usual. Please replace “even though” with “even so” in my above posting. Thanks.

November 24, 2007 at 7:34 AMHi auntie68, As you already know, I love joking (regardless of whether it is funny), and I generally get/take a joke. Even though, the word “老师” just behind my nickname is definitely TOO good to laugh for me. You are required to call me “老师” only when asking me a question about Japanese Anime! By the way, wow, you are a photographer, that’s great! Please say hi to your unusual client for me.

November 24, 2007 at 3:06 AMHi auntie68, thanks for a song. I didn’t know that you had a dog too. He/she looks like a linguist or philosopher.

November 24, 2007 at 2:09 AMMy chubby dog often kisses me, perhaps not so much a kiss as a lick. She can kiss me but cannot throw a kiss. Throwing a kiss is “飞吻” (fei1 wen3), which I think is one of the hilarious/wittiest translations. 小狗狗,飞个吻给我吧! Hey, my dog, throw me a kiss! xiao3gou3gou3, fei1ge5wen3gei3wo3ba5!

November 23, 2007 at 12:30 PMHi henning, I have found the words 农家菜, 农村饭, and 农民饭 on Google China. I am not sure whether or not all of them have the same meaning. It seems to me that the first two words perhaps are interchangeable, and the last one, 农民饭 (very rarely used), might possibly has a somewhat ideological nuance. Your post really makes me feel hungry!

November 23, 2007 at 11:51 AMHi aert, My chubby dog, who always gives me trouble, seems to do something good for the public every once in a while! Believe it or not, her name is Patricia (Patty).

November 26, 2007 at 2:58 AMAllow me to confuse some elementary learners. Can anyone tell the differences between the following three words? I know they are not the same, but I don’t know how to properly explain the differences. 举办 (ju3 ban4) 举行 (ju3 xing2) 进行 (jin4 xing2)
