Hi aert, One of my Chinese friends once told me that she read a lot of Sherlock Holmes stories in her school days more than twenty years ago. I also love 福尔摩斯!

Hi darylk, In ancient China, “耐” also meant one of light punishments, which cut beard of criminals. They had to ENDURE such disgrace. Hi artkho, It seems to me that the nerd’s tactic is effective. I suppose skill is no burden at least.

Sorry, correction. “耐热性” is more commonly used in Chinese than “热耐性”. The latter term is probably mainly seen in scientific fields. It means “thermal tolerance”, not “heatproof”.

You can teach your girlfriend or potential girlfriends very patiently, but you will someday find it very difficult to teach something to your wife or children without quarelling. 耐心 (nai4 xin1) patience, patient 耐性 (nai4 xing4) patience, endurance 热耐性 (re4 nai4 xing4) heat-resistance, heatproof

I love 豆腐脑 (dou4fu3nao3) best for breakfast. It is a kind of scrambled-tofu soup with seasonings. The problem is that I have to get up early to buy it from a street vendor, and it’s not so easy. http://images.google.cn/images?hl=zh-CN&ie=UTF-8&q=%E8%B1%86%E8%85%90%E8%84%91&oe=UTF-8&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi

Having read a henning’s comment, I begin to expect a much more spectacular ending such as “巨大怪兽 vs 宇宙警察”. If the space police should be outnumbered by evil monsters, I will immediately send some of Japanese 巨大超人, too many in Japan recently, to Jizhou. Their hourly pay is very reasonable.
