The “了” in “别担心，我是大人了” connotes something like "I AM an adult" or "obviously/needless to say, I am an adult". On the other hand, for example, the “了” in “(你已经是)大人了，还看动漫吗？” indicates a change of state, i.e. "Now that you have become an adult/You are an adult NOW".
