《现代汉语词典》 says “楞同棱” and “钞同抄”, and according to the explanatory note, the 同 is used for words and characters which are “国家标准未作规定/非推荐”. I feel this means "hey guys, you can use 楞/钞 instead of 棱/抄 if you insist, but honestly I don't recommend you use them very much" or something like that, hehe.

"了" can be used when you'd like to say that something will immediately happen, for example, “快春节了” and “春节快要来了” (Chinese New Year is just around the corner).
I think the “(我)看不出” means almost the same as “我才知道” or “我没想到”, which should be translated as something like "Wow, I didn't expect ～" or "I didn't know that ～".

Sorry, I've just found in dictionaries that you can also use 钞 (in the sense of 抄) and 楞 (as 棱) today, though it seems that they are less commonly used than 抄 and 棱.

Chinese authorities have been making an effort to standardize Mandarin since the early 20th century, and there were a lot of characters with different usages/readings (from today's) still used in the first half of the last century.
For example, 楞 had two different readings, leng2 (corner, edge) and leng4 (distracted), but today 楞 (leng2) and 楞 (leng4) have already been replaced by 棱 (leng2) and 愣 (leng4) respectively.
As for 钞 and 吵, actually 钞 is the original character of 抄 (which is a variant of 钞), so they were used interchangeably in the past, but they are two different characters in modern standard Mandarin.
I'm very glad that I can learn Mandarin AFTER standardization, hehe.

"话" doesn't mean "sentence", but "这句话" can indicate "a sentence".

Here the "白" means "speak, talk, explain", as seen in words such as "表白" (vindicate), 独白 (monologue), and 白话 (spoken language).
