November 23, 2007 at 2:25 AMuser42277 In the opening sentence, he states that 我希望每天烤式 (wǒ xīwàng měitiān kǎoshì) I wish everyday was test taking day. Granted it is a bit odd of a statement (why would anyone in their right mind want to take tests everyday) , but it is grammatically correct. your sentence 每天有考试 (měitiān yǒu kǎoshì) would state that everyday there IS a test.

November 23, 2007 at 2:13 AMdbuell, In the dialouge 谁告诉你的 (sheí gàosù nǐ de)the 的 (de) is used to emphasize "who", and in the following reponse, 的 (de) is used to answer it. If you were not disucussing a third party, you wouldnt need 的 (de). example: 告诉我! (gàosù wǒ!) Tell me! hope this helps.

November 22, 2007 at 4:32 AMRonlnDC Showing the traditional characters along with the simplified on the pop ups is something new. If our users find it too confusing, then perhaps that may change, to the angst of the traditional users I'm sure. Yes, you are correct. Hainanese Chicken Rice as it may be known outside of China, and often called WenChang ji (文昌鸡) otherwise, at least in Hainan. The chickens there eat on the fallen coconuts that cover Wenchang, resulting in a chicken with noticeably sweeter meat. Oddly enough, the best Hainanese Chicken Rice I ever had was in Singapore. Go figure...

November 22, 2007 at 2:54 AMdaliancripples2 Thats what I had in Hainan two years back! How funny. Chicken is the obvious substitute for turkey, and chicken noodle soup is as close to comfort food as one can make in China I suppose. 感恩节快乐! Gǎn'ēnjié kuàilè!

November 22, 2007 at 2:47 AMchangye, Ha, even though ChinesePod will be 12 deep at the dinner table tonight, the only Yanks present will be myself and John. The others are just tagging along for a feast. Dare I say this may be Jenny Zhu's first thanksgiving dinner... And owshawng, I despise you for being able to collapse on the couch and watch football.
