jonr, here is the Boston Red Sox in chinese for you. 波士顿红袜 (bōshìdùn hóngwà) or just 红袜队 (hóngwà duì), literally "red sock team". and here is a link to a lesson on city comparison, albeit not on the level as the Yanks and the Sawks. http://chinesepod.com/learnchi.....discussion

goulniky, best way to express "subtle" is by negating the word for obvious, which is 明显 míngxiǎn. here is an example 如果你想夸你老板,你应该不要太明显 (rúguǒ nǐ xiǎng kuā nǐ lǎobǎn,nǐ yīnggāi bùyào tài míngxiǎn) If you want to flatter your boss, don't be so obvious.

Ivbin is right, super expensive drinks in Singapore. A good source of mine tells me of 15sg dollar beers at the Hyatt. That is $10.25 on today exchange. Ouch! however, that wasn't the most expensive beer he had in asia....

atlasflower, good to hear. yeah, most students tend to gravitate towards the books (I know I did). Thats because its easier! It tough to train your ear to decipher the natural pace of spoken language. But you are already reaping the rewards. keep it up!
