so the explanation to the placing of this paritcular sentece's le is that we are not allowed to put it after chuan1 since xin1 yi1fu5 is not a concrete noun? And therefore must put it after the noun (or in the end of the sentence?)?
I understand that xin1 yi1fu5 is not concrete. It can be any clothes.

In short, the consonant "sh" has the same sound as that of "shi", so you don't have to move the lips after generating the consonant sound "sh".

Right, and neither need to move the tounge 是吧. When we say sha, shan, shen, shou, shu, shuo, and so on the tounge must move a bit though, going from sh to the vowel sound.

P/S I envy you who can use notes when playing, and who are good with dictionaries and books. The grass is always more green on the other side of the fence ;) Literal translation of a Sw. saying.

I see, a Nintendo game. Haha, they invent all kind of games nowadays. When I played Nintendo (15 years ago...) it was all about shooting and killing. Learning seems better ^_^

shenme, zenme and zenmeyang are some of the exeptions in pinyin. They are actually pronounced without the n, thus sounding shemme, zemme, and zemmeyang. (According to my text book.)
On the other hand, dan4shi4 (but), should be pronounced with the n. Wery weak and blurry n though, from my point of view.

I had great problems with n and ng in the beginning too. Compared to my language (swedish) the chinese n and ng are _really_ vauge sounds (is that the right way to say it in english?). My point is, in sweden we tend to pronounce every letter or combination of letters very distinctly. The very opposit would be danish, which to us swedes sounds sort of blurred (pardon, hehe...). Our n has a distinct beginnig, and n-sound and then a distinct ending. I think the ending is missing in the chinese n. That goes for ng too. Both sounds sort of fade in volume.

You might have noticed that people from the southern part of china drop the g in the ng sounds, thus saying n instead of ng. And they tend to drop the h in sh, thus saying s instead of sh.

Try go to the vocabulary tab and listen to wǎnshang hǎo. That word has both n and ng. -Nope, it doesn't! I hear you say. (Me too, haha). Now let's try imagine what it would sound like without n and ng. waashaaahao. It soesn't sound that way, right? So the small difference between the sound of waashaaahao and wanshanghao is the chinese n and ng in that word.

In the vocab tab you can also hear that there is no n at all in zenmeyang.

As you listen to more and more chinese and to different people saying the same words you will get the hang of n and ng I'm sure.

if you don't want to learn pinyin but would like to hear all possible chinese syllables you can go here. Download the pinyin chart for PC or Mac and run it. You can click anywhere on the chart to hear the sound. In that way you will learn some pinyin in a fun way. Not in the reading-a-very-boring-textbook way :)
