Chinese love to state the obvious, it's a conversation starter, like in English, "Ah, there you are..." or "oh, I see you're back now..." it's just we don't say it as often as the Chinese do. My (Cantonese) mother-in-law will always say to me, 'faan-leih la' (you're back), My dad will always say, "There he is...(talking to me in the 3rd person). The Japanese will say 'o'kaeri-nasai -'you're back'. Maybe it's some kind of natural linguistic twitch humans have.

Currency manipulation is fraud. Money from any country is worth and backed by the ability to produce something capable of supporting or of being of use in society, when that type of creativity and productivity disappears the society's currency naturally collapses. Currency is only an indicator of the health of society, when this symptom is elevated above and beyond a mere reflection of reallity it becomes a hollow pretense to steal from one's neighbor, aka the common and numerous Chinese workers who continue to labor over useful products being sent over to people purchasing their fruits with currency that is backed by nothing but lies and excuses. Soon, these profits will in a blink of an eye disappear or evaporate like the illusion they represent, as inflation becomes the merciless cold harded fact no currency manipulators can ignore for long.

You kind Chinese teachers could all help us take the plunge by allowing us to see and hear and yes experience your Chinese names, which should be your pride and joy. But I realize the society in which you live, it is so hard to bring up certain obvious things that might land you in serious trouble, but your name, your personal pride, should not be one of them. So glad that two teachers out of four decided to do this, you two flatter us with the reality that is your daily Chinese life, thank you two very much. As for the other two, I suggest a new line of work, where you can be the life of the party with your English names, which only results in a needless distraction for people wanting to take the serious Chinese plunge here.

No gifts, no turkey, no tree, no kidding."
