November 25, 2012 at 11:56 PMAlso, the women buying the car, and this being labelled as "traditional" is just as questionable/laughable. Widespread car ownership in China is only a 10-15 year old thing. Hardly traditional, and questionable as to whether it is common sense.
General comment:
-women's bargaining power around marriage is very high, particularly due to ratio of women to men in China,
-women's family's ability to influence house prices (beyond market worth) within China is very high (and this is sometimes cynically manipulated by property developers, to the disadvantage of the marrying couple),
-outcome is sometimes unhappy marriages (contrary to desired intent)

November 21, 2012 at 10:10 PMThis is a good point.
I categorise as well, but I also have folders that are a complete level (or two complete levels) of all dialogue files (the manadarin - only dialogue files). I found just random playing all of the manadrin-only files across two levels to be useful for making level jumps [for example, from Newbie/ellie -> inter, and then again for the jump from inter -> to UI/Advanced.
I also have folders "categorising" across levels, for example, I have a folder combining "Lili and Zhang Liang" (inter), with "Wang Wei" (ellie), and a folder categorising "Lili and Zhang Liang" with Love Tangle (UI), and Seven Year Itch (UI). I found playing the mandarin only files in sequence was useful (tells you a story, and brings you across levels).

November 21, 2012 at 9:55 PMThis is the number of lessons recommended by Cpod staff to study, as a general guide, before you get comfortable with a level.
Go to Library -> Channel, and there is a listing of the recommended number of lessons to study, for each channel.
There are two key points with this: 1) Most staff at Cpod have never used Cpod (without any prior knowledge of Mandarin), so the recommended lessons number does not (in my experience) appear to match an average leaner's reality. 2) UI level is the most under-represented.

November 17, 2012 at 1:52 AMMike : Newbie/ellie to inter jump - is reasonably easy, this is what I did:

lamartiniere : Agree. I basically worked through all the available inter lessons, whilst at the same time taking shots at a number of UI and advanced lessons, before getting comfortable.
One general comment, the ratio of UI recommended lessons to actual lessons is the lowest (for all levels), yet the "inter to UI jump" is the biggest...

I have never used it.
Is 我想叫早 (or similar) more common?
