Hahaha, I'm 6'4 so I get this every day. The absolute funniest situation is when I get Chinese strangers come up to me on the street (usually while I'm trying to buy something) and just measure themselves against me, usually not being taller than my chest, and saying "哇太高了!"

As an Australian I really enjoy the Chinese translation of Australia: 澳大利亚

I think its really fun to say as it rolls off the tongue

Oh Dah Lee Yah

whereas Australia is kind of rough

Ah Stray lee Ah

although some Aussies will speed it up and take off the A to make it 'straya

I think we should change the name of our country to 澳大利亚!

I feel like 帅哥 and 美女 were like the two most commonly used words when I first arrived in China. Maybe thats because I was living with a group of 留学生 but it seemed like everywhere we went there would be random people calling us 帅哥 and 美女.

There was especially one time that was really weird, when I was walking past a bus stop and there were a bunch of Chinese high-school aged youth, and so I said hello to them as I was walking past and one girl said "Hello 帅哥!"

I was like wow, that was pretty forward. But I definitely have to keep in mind that it much more friendlier and less creepy than it would be in English.

Also I live in 四川 so I think people here are much more impressed by foreigners than say in 北京 or 上海

I find one of the most annoying things about having a 手机 shǒujǐ in China is that you get advertisement text messages in Chinese a couple of times a day. 

Some of my friends told me that if I go into a China mobile store point at the offending text message and say"我不要" (wǒ bú yào) that I would no longer receive the ads.

I've done this twice now and each time the China Mobile employee types on their computer for a few minutes, and then indicates to me that its done, and so I leave.

But alas I still receive the ads.

Maybe its an incentive for me to get on Chinese Pod and study so that I can eventually understand the advertisements and enjoy all the benefits of whatever it is they are trying so persistently to sell me?

I have to say I agree with Bodawei, this lesson did not seem very relevant or informative to me. Perhaps it is because I live in 四川 (Sìchuān)

Although most of the BST podcasts have been great!

I can never tell if the 小朋友 is a boy or a girl except by the general rule that pink is for girls and blue is for boys, I've had a few embarrasing conversations as well.

wǒ shì ge zài yī suǒ sìchuān de dà xué xué zhōngwén de xuéshēng

I guess I just need to keep practicing.
