September 27, 2011 at 5:02 PMI didn't find the background noise to be any problem. Could be the settings on your computers audio settings or something.

September 27, 2011 at 4:58 PM狗改不了吃屎。 Words of wisdom that I shall never forget! Good lesson. Interesting observation on the topic of accents, as was brought up in distinguishing between 光棍 and 光棍儿, I would be willing to guess that Dilu is probably a Shanghai local, or at least from that region of China. I've lived in the north for over 2 years, but I stayed in Jiangsu for one year, and I noticed that they usually pronounce 声 as 'shen' instead of 'sheng'. Good lesson. Thanks.

September 23, 2011 at 8:28 AMOf all of the teas, 白茶 is most certainly my favorite. 。白茶是对身体最有好处的茶。为什么呢。。因为白茶是友最高浓缩度抗氧化剂的差,特别是儿茶精类抗氧化剂--这是因为白茶茶叶基本上没发酵 So, drink up! :)

September 22, 2011 at 1:56 PMVery funny! Gotta have that "but", right John? 我在黑龙江黑河坐着,在听堂从上海播出来的汉语课,在用一个江苏宜兴的紫砂杯, 用这个杯子喝着浙江安吉白茶。 真有中国味儿吧!?
Also, it's very good to hear the Chinesepod legends, Jenny and John teamin' it up again! Very good stuff!

September 30, 2011 at 5:33 AMInteresting lesson/dialogue. I seriously thought after listening to the dialogue the second time, when Jenny usually asks John a pertinent topic related question she was about to say, "那John,你在中国这么多年,你有没有去过一家酒吧找一夜情呢?" Had Jenny have asked that my jaw would have just dropped and then serious laughter would have followed.
Jenny, regarding Westerners and Chinese habits of going to night clubs, I have to say that from my experience it's very comparable. They are packed in the US, and they are packed in China. I think it is more of a income-level related phenomenon in China than a cultural thing if less people go. 我们的社会都有一部分很喜欢去酒吧的人,也有很多不喜欢去酒吧的人。 It's similar to the KFC phenomenon in China. So many Chinese people told me, "你们外国人都喜欢吃垃圾食品,肯德基什么之类的,我们中国人都不喜欢吃。” Obviously, this is not completely true because everytime I see and KFC or McDonalds in China, their business is absolutely booming, and 99.99% of the customers are Chinese. Furthermore, I'm American and I eat healthier than almost anyone I know, whether in China or the US. So I think that broad generalizations about a nation's people are very, well, debatable at best.
Finally, I have a question: I get very confused about ’的’ and ‘地’ following words in Chinese. Do you have any resources or advice on how I can get crystal clear on this? Thanks! You guys rock!
