October 30, 2008 at 4:45 AMI always find it amusing to buy counterfeit goods in China and the vendor is so concerned about the money being real.
Is this the definition of ironic?

Yes I know people do speak that way. When I was living in Taiwan I would hear it all the time. For me something like that would only come to my slow brain after my mouth had moved on.
I just like the way the expansion sentences provide quite a bit to think about and someday use.

Somebody in the factory was having fun putting together the expansion sentences. Four in a row have repeat words ; 比比 bibi, 試試 shishi, 聽聽 tingting,坐 坐 zuozuo and there is a fifth further on. I wish I could use them well when I try to speak.
I also have a question. In one sentence, the person is asking about a chair being confortable and says " 舒服不舒服 shū bù shūfu " I think there might have been a lesson on ....不...... before but is it also ok to use 舒服不舒服 shūfu bù shūfu
Thanks

Grammar or sentence structure is important as you often say. As an Elle I can learn grammar at the intermediate level. Qing Wen partly fills this but I think stressing grammar/word order/tenses is very useful. Today's lesson had almost none. That's ok because of the useful vocabulary. CPoddies don't live by meat and potatoes only.
Anyways I will continue to use the expanded section as almost everyday this is great. I spend more time with this than even the dialogue.

I like these Hungary Traveler lessons not so much for the grammar ( sentence structure -very little) but exploring the less obvious but really great dishes of China. All of today's I have eaten in Beijing.I miss the candied fruit. Even as an oldie poddie I can make a mess of my face and shirt with one of those.
Two other points
Since coming back to CPod after a year away, I am really impressed with the effort that goes into the expansion sentences. They are very good and explore quite often other uses of the words and phrases. Thank you CPOD Team who do these.
If I had one request it is if you could have something there on a grammar point. Being in Japan and now working on my Japanese as well a very nice feature of japanesepod101.com is the grammar explanation in their PDF.
And the second point (request) is to John . Hey I am going through your Johns Favorites. How about picking your best of the best grammar intense lessons?
Thanks
