October 12, 2008 at 9:20 AMMy mum used to wear qipaos (we called them cheongsams). Unfortunately, I don't really have the figure to do so, and I wore only the 'kua' during my wedding dinner (borrowed from my sister, and I must say it was lovely). Nevertheless, getting a beautiful qipao made to measure has been on my list of things to do for a long time now.

October 13, 2008 at 11:13 AMYes, as Ken said, if you're staying with a Chinese family, it's polite to do what the guy in the dialogue did and say 晚安 to your host, but please don't go and give his wife a good night kiss!
