November 25, 2009 at 5:45 AMI am often 路盲 too...I looked up an online dictionary and the search for illiterate brought up 文盲。Instinctively I would have thought it to be 字盲 since in Malay it is 'buta huruf' which translates to letter blind. 文盲 sounds like one is blind to culture. I guess that is not unusual either.

1. As an adjective: 你搞错了。他的老马还没过世，还活生生在家里。
2. As an adverb: 真倒霉！活生生被人骂！也不知道我那里错！

To me concerning and regarding mean the same thing in English but I think I understand it by thinking of 关于 and 对于 in the general topic and specific situation way. I will try to use these in my conversations and hope some one will correct me if I'm wrong.

December 2, 2009 at 2:16 AMThis 上火 concept is a uniquely Chinese concept that is very difficult for non-Chinese to understand. We often say that there is too much 热气 in the body; eating certain foods cause or carry too much 热气. So, to carry on the explanation along the same lines (which many westerners have now learnt to appreciate), it's the qi or 气 in the body that is imbalanced; 上火 often means the yin 阴 and yang 阳 energies in the body are out of balance and is too heavy on the yang side. I hope this simplistic somewhat 'western' explanation helps.
