Guess what? 我老公和我也刚刚买了一间房子 (oops! am I using one of those Cantonesey measure words that sound weird in Mandarin again?). Anyway, this is a bigger house than the apartment we currently live in and has a garden and a backyard. We have just paid the initial fee for the option to purchase....I'm really excited but that means we will probably be 房奴 for the rest of our lives.

So, can we also use the term 欢乐园? Love that skyscraping wheel description! Check out the London Eye or the Singapore Flyer. Would that be 伦敦眼 and 新加坡摩天大伦?哈哈!

I have been using a few food measure words since a long time ago, but they are not the ones I see on this lesson, so I would just like to check the correctness/acceptability of them:

一粒苹果 or any kind of small round fruit

一梳香蕉 a comb of bananas

一件 for wrapped or pouchy things like stuffed beancurd, springrolls, etc.

Thanks to anyone who is willing to comment.

lujiaojie, 谢谢你!So it seems like 郁闷 means depressed or melancholy and 灰暗 means gloomy. Got it!:)

各位老师,麻烦你们解释一下。。。灰暗更郁闷有什么区别呢?谢谢!

I too loved the expression 上有老下有小。 Simple and easy to digest, remember and reuse.

rjberki, think I'll jump in here and nitpick a little. It isn't a penumbra either...it is the corona. ;)

Do people ever use 一把嘴? I seem to recall it being used a lot among Cantonese speakers, especially when it has negative connotations, like when someone is a blabbermouth. 他那把嘴从早到晚不停的。

Interesting lesson with a lot of good-to-know bits, but I'm feeling dense today, so it will take me a while to assimilate the new vocab. 希望没有什么问题!
