"Can 车 be used with 来不及, e.g. 来不及车了? " no.
"看上去"and"看起来"are two words,they must have some difference when being used.But i may say not much. I think it is more important to distinguish "看上去"、“看起来”and“看来”。

I dont exactly know what you mean by saying"afraid of flying".Did you mean afraid of taking a plane or something else?
yes,"大胆"is a common way to describe the emotion you just refered to. And "勇敢yong3gan3"can also be used here.

And i think you may distinguish the two words better by knowing the antonym words of them.
出发 到达(which means you kind of have a destination)
出去 进来or回来
ps:no 去发 in chinese.

when you want to buy something in the big shopping centres,you may say"我去购物"。but actually the chinese say"去买点儿东西"more often than "购物"。
the word of "购物" is just like "散步"or“起床”，it is a "v.o.".
