Yeah, too much color and stimulation here. We can't have that now, can we?

Dull it down a few notches, CP!

All in all I enjoyed this lesson. I like a bit of a challenge and this format certainly gave me that.

But what I was less happy about was the following vocabulary:
许多 - 或 - 与 - 客户

These are all new to me and they DON'T appear in the PDF key vocabulary. Why is that?

Failing to have explanations for these terms has prevented me from being able to understand the text fully.

I just looked up Indonesia in Babelfish and I got:

印度尼西亚 - yin4 du4 ni2 xi1ya4

Is there a common abbreviated way of saying this?

I can't imagine that many people would say in full:

你说不说印度尼西亚话?

I know for example that 澳大利亚 is usually abbreviated to 澳洲

thanks

I think I'll stop knocking myself out on exercise 3 in the lessons.

Exercises 1 and 2 have always worked OK for me.

Again I don't know why I didn't get a perfect score (5/5) for the final exercise.

My answer seems to be correct.

And how could I get 4/5? If one answer is wrong then at least another must be also, because I am only choosing from the 5 answers that are provided.

As a fairly new beginner I'm not ready for Mandarin at this level.

But I have been downloading all the Poems With Pete lessons, because I certainly intend being ready for them one day.

I confess I get a little fed up at times with scripted texts and dialogues written especially for learners, so I find the prospect of learning some 'real' examples of the language in use to be a very attractive one.

There seems to be a problem with the final exercise.

I tried it several times and couldn't do better than 3/6. My wife who is better at written Chinese than me couldn't do any better.

I suspect it has something to do with the fact that 3 of the 6 available answers are all the same character: 行

My wife doesn't like me eating durian. She says it makes the body "hot".

I still don't understand the Chinese concept of foods making your body either hot or cold.
