July 30, 2012 at 2:59 AMHere 才 should be translated as 'only'. But actually, this 才 means 'it's late'. 他吃了饭走= He left when he'd eaten. 他吃了饭才走 implies 'it's late for he to leave when he'd eaten'. Sounds like he usually left earlier.
