February 4, 2011 at 1:16 AMWhat have you achieved by issuing these ratings?
Honestly, if you expect lessons to be tailored to your own learning style, then fork out some money for the Guided course. Its not all about you.

February 1, 2011 at 11:35 AMOK so your mind obviously works very quickly. My aging mind is somewhat slower. I need time to absorb an example before moving on. If this were face-to-face teaching that might be accomplished with a quiet pause. That would sound strange on a podcast, so I am happy to have frivolous fillers to allow time for reflection. When push comes to shove, it is not harmful to your learning, is it? 'Not the only one' - granted. But if people were given 3 options - change, don't change, don't care - I think 'change' would be eliminated in the first round of voting.

February 1, 2011 at 4:57 AMI have to agree with rennell1. It is not working, or is at least taking an exceptionally long time to start. Be aware, this is the 6th sentence, not the 3rd which is very similar.

January 31, 2011 at 8:18 PMWhy allow yourself to be sidetracked by the laughter? Either enjoy the frivolity, or use the laughter time to go over a recently-mentioned concept in your head (which is what I do). Do you really want a series of concepts and examples one after the other - bang, bang, bang, without any time to contemplate?

January 31, 2011 at 8:03 PMI will let someone else answer your question. But I thought I should say that the Pinyin is pángbiàn, not pángbièn.

January 31, 2011 at 8:46 AMI've listened to only a smattering of Qingwen episodes from the first to the most recent. So perhaps I am not the most qualified to make a judgment. But my feeling is that the recent ones are perhaps not quite as good as the ones involving Jenny and Pete, but significantly better than those involving Amber and Clay. Still a great resource though. The earlier ones, though not as good from a language perspective, made much better use of the three hosts, and the banter they produced was their strength. So perhaps I'm agreeing that 3 are not needed in the current format, but that number certainly does no harm.

January 30, 2011 at 8:40 PMIt the whole thing was in Chinese, you would need to reach a particular level in your studies before Qingwen was any use to you. If you are already at that level, there are plenty of Upper Intermediate and Advanced lessons to listen to. I don't think there is any need to render Qingwen useless for more than half the audience by making all in Chinese. And a few jokes don't hurt anyone.

February 4, 2011 at 10:49 PMA question regarding the expansion: 才打九五折?
Why isn't it 九十五? And if there is no 十, why does the Pinyin have jiǔwǔ as one word?
And another one. I have not seen 瞧 before. What is the difference between it and 看?
