I agree, but then again, there is more than one way to skin a cat, and there are a lot of sentence structures in Chinese that sounded funny to me the first time but are perfectly normal.
I liked this podcast a lot. However, even though they made it clear that the usages of 做, 干 and 办 are a bit arbitrary, they didn't make it clear if the same is true for 弄 and 搞. I am hoping for more than examples. I want to see the logic behind them and if possible, create a sentence pattern.

June 14, 2009 at 1:00 AMThis is great. I hope to know something more about 弄/搞. Can I generally use this as a sentence pattern:
（主语）把 （宾语）弄/搞+形容词
比如说：
- 我把我的车弄红了。(I painted/made my car red.)
- 他把问题搞模糊了。(He made the problem confusing.)
- 她把午饭弄烧了。She burnt lunch.
- 这个问题把我的脑子搞疯了！This problem drove me crazy!
Or are these wrong? If they are wrong, are they completely wrong or just a little strange?

Sometimes the comment sections get way out of hand. I hear mostly good things about cpod, but I wonder if some people get turned off by this kind of stuff and just sort of don't bother with it. I feel it would be better if poddies (in general, of course) would pay more attention to learning than looking for a cyber-brawl.
Having a community is good, but communities should be nurturing. I for one have engaged in debates before, but I'm going to try and focus on studying from now on, or at least debate in Chinese.

This is about the 搞 controversy above.
I just recalled a time that I was with a four Chinese women. I said "我搞教育." One of the ladies told me that I shouldn't say it like that because it was impolite, and all the others seem to have agreed. I think maybe she meant 粗略, but anyway, from the discussion above, the commenters seem to think it all depends on context, which I assume they are right. However, I'm wondering if using 搞 is a bit frowned on by a significant part of Chinese society. Or perhaps it is just because I messed up the sentence, i.e. I should have said 我是搞教育的 or something else.
