Posted on: How Did You Learn Chinese?
April 10, 2011 at 10:28 AMI have been in China for three years and I would say the most valuable resource I have found so far is QQ. I cannot overstate how much chatting on QQ has benefitted my Chinese. Amazing. Really.
The advantages:
Diverse speaking partners (learn the ins-and-outs of the way Chinese people from different parts of China talk)
Written and recordable converstions (helpful for understanding tough parts. you can go back and re-read bits or whole conversations)
People chat the way they talk (great for understanding sentence construction and logic)
People routinely add you for no reason (I have no idea why but if I leave my QQ on for a day I typically get somewhere between 1 and 3 people asking to be my friend)
A great way to review new material (my new thing is to start conversations on QQ using ChinesePod lessons as my topic)
Time (you can really sit and think about what you want to say)
语音 (If you are comforatble with doing it, people love to have video chats)
I can probably think of more advantage, but you get the idea... :)

April 10, 2011 at 10:10 AMHonestly, I'd say even as an intermediate it might be a good idea to start reading news online. Just look for some shorter articles at first, until you get more comfortable with the grammar and whatnot. There are a couple nice things about reading newspapers: 1)you get some useful, topical vocabulary (most of the time without having to battle 成语 2) you can read about things you are interested in, and 3) newspaper grammar is actually fairly simple and repetitive.
Suggestions for where to go that you might not think of at first might include:
Voice of America (the Chinese language version of course)
BBC (same as above)
中国日报双语 (I find this one to be pretty interesting)

Posted on: 美国新驻华大使
April 22, 2011 at 3:39 AM我可能不完全理解,可是总体来看,这篇文章好像是相当悲观的,也可能是想得太多了。作为一个美国人我要说,奥巴马也许不是为了博弈才这么做,更可能就是因为骆家辉是个又有资格的又有血统关系的人,所以把他驻华是比较合适。
