That's a wonderful suggestion! We'll definitely explain that in future lessons.

To put it simply, the biggest difference between 也 and 还 is the subject. When you're using 还, that means the same subject is doing different things, but when you use 也, it means different subjects are doing the same thing. This explains why 还 has to be followed by an object while 也 doesn't. It's because the focus of these two sentence structures are entirely different.

In some situations, these two words are interchangeable.  Like the sentences you mentioned, 我有一个哥哥, 也有一个姐姐。 我有一个哥哥, 还有一个姐姐。 In this structure, 也 and 还 both mean "also". Hope this answers your question!

Hello, this is a good question!

An important thing to remember when learning Chinese pronunciation is that we have tone change rules. In some situations, some normal tones of the characters would change to a different tone. In this case, when followed by a first tone(bei1), 一(yi1) changes to the fourth tone. Normally, the tone changes are not written in pinyin. Instead, we write down the original tones to avoid confusion, and that's why there's a difference between what you see and what you hear.

I hope this answers your question. If you want to know more about the tone change rules, be sure to check out our Say it Right series!

Hello, you have a good ear for tones! Very impressive! The correct pinyin for 酒吧 is jiǔ bā, but in spoken Chinese, you hear 吧 pronounced as the fourth tone from time to time mainly because it sounds more like the English word "bar", which is the the origin of the transliteration.  And the pinyin for 猜 is cāi, i'm sorry it was not pronounced as a clear first tone, and we thank you for your input! Jessica's working on the tones and we're sure she'll be a tone master in no time:)

As for your third question, if you want to express "as well, in addition", you can use the word 还. For example, you can say 我要一杯水,还要一杯咖啡。(I would like a glass of water, and a cup of coffee as well.) The difference between the usage of 还 and 也 is very interesting, and we'll definitely explore that in the future lesson. Hope this helps:)

You're right! The correct pinyin for 觉得 is jué de. We've updated the pinyin in the video, thank you for pointing that out:)

Very good question, 得到 and 获得 are both grammatically correct in this sentence. The difference is if you say 还是可以 *获得* 他们的支持, it implies that you'd have to "win" their support, but if you use 得到 in this context, it simply means "to get" which fits the context of this dialogue more since the girl doesn't have to make an effort to obtain her parents' support! Hope this helps:)

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Here's the transcript of the parts you had trouble with:

0:12 最近我们收到非常多的学生关于学中文的问题

0:24 差点把我给考倒了

2:41 也就是你先预设了明确的目标

3:16 刚上大学的时候

3:28 我在念大学的时候

3:34 那你是个乖学生耶

4:02 如果你是一个业务经理好了

4:36 员工

4:42 我先祝大家也祝 Rebecca 升官发财

你都要毕业了 means "You're already graduating." The structure 都...了 here expresses something that's already happened. Hope this helps!
