July 7, 2010 at 11:54 PMI live in Quebec, or French Canada if you prefer, and although it is mostly unheard of in the rest of "American" Canada, it is very common here in "European" Quebec to have a (that's how we call it) "Bring your own wine" restaurants (Apportez votre vin). The idea is the same as what you describe in Australia, and we may bring beer or any other alcohol. They rarely charge any sort of fee for it, it is mostly a way for them to attract business and we love it too!!!

June 7, 2010 at 10:27 PMWe went to the 西安博物馆. Very nice because you need to pay to enter so there are very few people there (they all go to the free overcrowded Shanxi Museum). We learned there that at the time when 西安 was called 长安, (582 AD) it was the largest-scaled capital in the world with an estimated 1 000 000 people & 84 square km (that's if this is all true and not "fake data" hihihi...you never know in China). We saw potteries representing people with black faces & features (big noses, big lips, big eyes) which shows that there were people coming from as far as Africa to do business during the Tang period (618-907).

June 6, 2010 at 6:58 PMThanks a1pi2, that is useful to know how to search using Google and such, but I think it would still be nice to have an index by entry in pinyin instead of by category of words. That's how all the books function for grammar and it is the MOST logical way to find things.
But at least you gave me another trick that I didn't know about using the search engines... very useful! Thanks.

June 6, 2010 at 1:34 AMHi, great additions guys!
I can't find this grammar guide? It seems to be the old one still there under tools.
Also...
Could you some how arrange a search engine that would work with this grammar guide. Anytime I want to find how to use a certain word in the current gramar guide I never know where to look... I don't always know if it's an adverb or a preposition or anything else...
An alphabetical index of all the entry (based on pinyin) would also work... that's how most grammar guides are set up.
Thanks!!
