June 13, 2007 at 7:16 AMAmber, Thanks for the clarification and the usage examples. I certainly don't envy the guy in your example who experienced two World Wars. Art

June 12, 2007 at 7:51 AMJust don't turn this soap into Friday the 13th movie series! I don't want to listen to an episode called Zhang Liang and Lili, the Final Breakup, part 999. :-)

June 7, 2007 at 8:10 AMYesterday, my colleague in 天津 mentioned 期房 via instant messaging but didn't have time to explain why it takes the buyer of a house one year to get his or her key. Can Chinesepod broadcast a lesson on 期房?

May 22, 2007 at 5:00 AMKen, I must be eleven! I found this lesson really useful and I enjoyed it. They don't teach these words in University classes. I think I should demand a refund from the university where I took three elementary Mandarin courses. :-) 许冠俊

May 17, 2007 at 7:23 AMWhen I was in Guilin last year, I caught glimpses of newlyweds receiviing their guests. Here's a picture of a bride receiving her red envelope, http://www.flickr.com/photos/honuhaigui/162768601/in/set-72157594159226526/ Here's a picture of another bride who stood not too far from the first one, http://www.flickr.com/photos/honuhaigui/162768601/in/set-72157594159226526/. She probably said to herself: "Darn that half-foreigner (半老外) tourist! He just blocked the view of my photographer." :-) If I had known about the weird and mean games the guests played on the newlyweds when I was in Guilin, I would have crashed one of these bride's party just to experience this wedding custom.

July 2, 2007 at 6:26 AM他不信她有男朋友。这个女孩应该告诉这个男人她和他一样做兄妹。Please correct my grammar. Do Chinese women ever let down guys by saying: "You're like a brother to me" ? ;-)
