May 11, 2007 at 7:49 AMAlmost a year ago, my last lunch in Shanghai was a bamboo container filled with 小笼包. I have been hooked on this dish ever since. I often order 小笼包 in Chinese restaurants that serve them. This lesson makes me want to go back to Shanghai. Jenny, if I ever get a chance to go back to Shanghai, will you and Ken take me to a restaurant that serves terrific 小笼包? It doesn't have to be 豫园 :-) By the way, I did see 豫园 when I was in Shanghai last year. It was packed! The lesson has given me a craving for 小笼包. I have to go to the Shanghai restaurant in downtown Mountain View this weekend, order some 小笼包 and get the owners to teach me new Shanghainese words. 许冠俊

May 10, 2007 at 11:36 PMThis lesson's a keeper! I have to memorize some of the colorful expressions so that I can use them on my Chinese friends. For this lesson, perhaps 你算老几？should be translated as "Who died and made you the Parking god?" :-) 许冠俊

April 27, 2007 at 7:02 AMAs I find some more free time these days to listen to the lessons, I am beginning to like some of the new features of V3. Since I am a member, I like going straight to the dialogue tab to read the text of the lesson while I listen. I also like the seeing the words while Jenny and John explain their meaning. Now regarding the lesson, I just have trouble believing Chinese Dads consoling their sons with their own heartbreak stories. Which generation of Chinese Dads are we talking about? So is there going to be a lesson on a moping 丽丽? Will we find 丽丽's friends coming over to her house to drag her shopping? Okay, I shouldn't stereotype. On the other hand, 丽丽's friends could belt out the Mandarin version of "My Mama told me, you better shop around". Can I translate this as "我妈妈告诉我，我应该去购物“？ :-) Loved the lesson's vocabulary. Keep up the terrific work. 许冠俊

April 25, 2007 at 7:40 AMI am going to break protocol and use English. It's late here in California and it takes me forever to think up a few sentences in Chinese to write. Even I don't understand most of the lesson (I'll have to listen to this a few more times), I recognized the story of 俞伯牙 and 钟子期. I learned it eons ago when I was an elementary school student in the Philippines. Jenny and 肖霞. Thank you for bringing up 高山流水觅知音 (http://www.china.org.cn/chinese/zhuanti/282046.htm). It brought back terrific childhood memories of listening to Chinese stories. 许冠俊

May 17, 2007 at 7:07 AMJenny, I've only had three Mai Tais in my entire life. The first one was horrible and I waited a decade to try a second one when I was in Kauai last year.
