Posted on: Two Poems about Music -- 弹琴 and 听筝

What a  great break in a busy day. I remember one instrument shop, where the owner let me play the guzheng and I won't forget my neighbor who also gave me some lesson on how to play guzheng:) Was a lot of fun:) And as that lady described in the second poem...a beautiful Chinese traditional instrument shop exists in my city, where there's a sales assistant who looks like a lady from ancient times. Beauty. There's a saying: The beauty will save the world. Thanks for the poems:)

The poems are not too much!!!

:)) that was a beautiful morning with a Media lesson from Chinesepod. 5 stars guys, thx for the video and taste of Taiwan:))

Interesting discussion in the dialog, which made me think of something. I have a question, about the language. I noticed that mostly people who lived in Taiwan use Chengyu (成语), but those who are from mainland use it way less. What is your opinion? Is it maybe because I am studying in very science and engineering orientated University that I don't hear chengyu to often ( or actually...I heard them 2 or 3 times from people who write books) or is it just the way it is?

Thanks a lot for a good training of listening and reading traditional characters:)

hmmm...few ideas around my mind and few comments. Is the "Poems with Pete" meant to remain as: listen and discuss, or you plan on adding some expansion? Chinesepod has a huge value to me, Newbie, Elementary, Intermediate and Upper Intermediate lesson, serve as a great refreshment of the language, with the support of traditional characters - I also get a very easy way to learn both systems of writing, which is important to me. Advanced, Media and Poems with Pete let me strongly expand my skills and vocabulary, which in my case of living in a university environment becomes difficult at some point - we discuss too similar topics on daily bases. I wonder, if Cpod thought of expanding this lesson. I would love to have a pdf available too (I know, you said you are working on it, I hope it will happen soon). Using Cpod for a few months I am already considering an upgrade in the subscription, though the main factor for me is the amount of the advanced content, which is harder to self-study. Thanks a lot for this lesson, and for the work, Pete!

Jenny, you have a beautiful voice:) I really enjoyed listening to your reading of the poem.

About the poems...the more you travel, the more idea of Andre Brougiroux seems to speak to you: "One people, one planet" (http://andre.brugiroux.free.fr/), people actually think and worry about the same, we just manage to express it in a very, very, very different way. I am glad, that Pete knows the similar poem in English, this lesson again reminded me how similar we are...and thx Pete for fishing out the similarities between Chinese and English sayings. East and west are not that far away (check it bu turning the globe in Google Earth upside down;). Positive, warm and interesting lesson.
