I will again wander off a bit. I have to say that farming in China is interesting, somewhere not far away from the place I live in Zhejiang province the farmers decided to grow more strawberries in order to earn more money. The chief party officer for 6 nearby villages said: "We think that farmers just need enough food to eat and that's the purpose of their life". A young progressive Chinese student aiming to emigrate with proud was telling about building a concrete paved road which would link each village, and at last other Chinese student said, that recently primary education in rural areas is again becoming free. Not as romantic as in the poem...good old times I guess.

Interesting, in my mainland Uni if I use 同志 it will mean gay. But China is so diverse. Pete, really interesting things you add here:)

This lesson reminded me of topic I am upto now confused about a bit, hearing not clearly, how to express: in the dialog it is: 我听不清。 how about ”我听不到“ 、”我听不见“。 Is there any real difference?

Pete, thanks for Taiwanese update, really useful. BTW, about the traditional PDF is tradaitional PDF transcript just a transcript of the Mainland Mandarin or is it written with consideration of differences of vocabulary between Taiwan and Mainland (I have not much idea about HK)?

I will wander off the poetic path and refer to Pete's last comment about the farmers in China...the most stunning fact is that only 7% of land is considered suitable for agriculture. If you travel here and there, it's really visible that the life of farmers is not easy. Thx, Pete for reminder:)
