Anyone know if there is a term for private shower, or not just a shower head on the wall and a hole in front of the toilet. I might just be a little spoiled having had a room where the shower was enclosed and separated from the rest of the bathroom, but thats probably one of my biggest gripes with Chinese apartments.

Also, how much do dryers typically jack up the e-bill? They're a rare sight in the southwest, but if its cheap enough I might look into it.

Could you replace 延误 with 推迟 in this diaolgue?

In Chengdu, the south part of the city near the consulate is really different than other parts. I believe that the majority of foreigners live in that area which is prehaps why the cost for housing is much more expensive. 5000 is insanely high for Chengdu I think (for poor students and most English teachers anyways). I was living in the Northern part and everything is much cheaper, though surroundings are quite older. The average rent for newly constructed apartments is like somewhere between 1200-2500 for the most part. Older ones maybe 600-1500.

I'm actually in the process of finding a new place and have been going through these agents. One thing I have been requesting though is a 液晶电视 ye4 jing1 dian shi. Apparently a lot of new places are coming equipped with these and being a pretty big nerd myself it has become a must have.

Actually, I didn't know the agent fee was that high. No one mentioned anything about it. Is it possible to just go directly to the landlord to avoid fee's? Perhaps just ask the agent to help you find a place, then back out at the last second once you find something you like. Also, what are the differences between 套一 套二 etc? Just more space?

Quick question.这些用语有什么区别?

你在干什么? 你干什么? 你干吗? 干嘛?

我每天都用可是还不知道它们准确的意思。

I think for learning any language TV is one of the most helpful tools. Unfortunately for Chinese, watching TV for the most part is a test of your endurance (and sanity). Some shows are cool to watch and have decent quality production like Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils as well as a couple on-going ones, but the war/family drama's along with the endless, randomly interrupting advertisements, make it a headache. That along with the fact that after 6 months I still can't figure out the scheduling of programs. Shows come on and go off whenever they feel like it seems.

Despite having good content, this lesson automatically fails for having the "nobody, nobody but you" ringtone.
