September 5, 2007 at 1:52 AMOh. I just tried that, but nothing happened immediately. I guess I have to wait for some new lessons. BTW, Is there a quick way to flag old lessons as "studied"? (I've studied all of the U's and UI's, but it would be a drag to go back over them all to flag them.)

August 27, 2007 at 4:15 AMSparechange, I recall one of the recent lessons talking about one character adjectives and one character nouns not requiring a 的 to separate them. Perhaps something similar is going on here.

August 27, 2007 at 3:26 AMDoes 南阳 really have a population of over 10 million? I ask because I never heard of it before and I thought that was about the size of China's very largest cities (北京,上海,重庆, 。。。)。 How many cities does China have with a population over 10 million? How many cities over 1 million?

August 27, 2007 at 3:04 AMBTW, I'll offer an alternate explaination to John's about the Engish use of "in the fields". I grew up on a farm and when I waled *in* the fields, I litterally walked *in* the fields. The crops grown where I lived were conducive to this ( corn, alpha-alpha, soy beans). However, I wouldn't casually go walking into a rice field. It would be wet, muddy and icky. I would definately walk *beside* a rice field.

August 26, 2007 at 12:09 AMBTW, I tried using dict.chinesepod.com to lookup some words from the latest advanced lesson (关于章子怡)that I didn't find in cedict (open source Chinese dictionary), but no luck there either. So, I think the CPod dictionary might not be a comprehensive reference, yet.
