Lili's quafing of mocha didn't prepare me for a real Starbucks on my recent trip to China. I got to the head of the line before I could read enough bits and pieces on the menu to figure out how to say, "a tall double capicino" . Cup sizes are different, I never did figure out how to say, "add an extra shot of expresso". Maybe a topic for a future lesson, or someone can respond to this post with a Starbucks vocabulary list. Thanks.

Picking up on Xiaohu's comment, I was once in a bookstore in 南京. The cashier came up to me and said, "我要下班了. 你知道下班吗?" (I'm going to quit working. Do you know, what quit working means?) My first reaction was to say something like, "ok have a nice evening.", but what she really meant was, "It is closing time. Can you please leave the store." She didn't say a word I didn't know, but it still took me a minute, or so, to understand her meaning. I actually think CPod lessons are pretty good at giving situational language like this, but there are a lot of situations to cover.

I think Peter has to decide if he wants inexpensive hammers or social justice. Most of us decide when we go 血拼 without having to confront our 与虎谋皮 natures. I think a real Peter would be pragmatic in this situation. I don't know what is the right thing for him to do, but it would be an interesting lesson to hear Peter try to reform 李总. 需要再酩酊喝醉

BTW, thanks very much to 子恒 for sharing his experience. Complaints about length of the dialog aside, I thought what he said was very interensting and informative.

I like the spontanious language and subject matter of the lesson a lot. The length of of the dialog is a bit long to fit into my normal study routine, though. It is three of four lessons worth in one shot. I usually like to read the transcript and listen to the dialog enough times that I can follow it word by word. I think if all the UI's are like this it will be too much material to keep up with every week.

At one point 张亮 says that he was 冲动。 I'm a bit curious what is going on with this comment, because he has not seemed impulsive in all most all of the episodes. Is he refering to the conversation when they broke up? Is this a social convention for discussing affairs that didn't work out? Were there some impulsive actions that took place between episodes?
