In the following extract from the article 好多影视剧都打着“爱情”的旗号给她翻案, to what does the 她 refer?  Should it be 它?

Some Chinese people interspersing English into their Mandarin seems to be pretty common in my experience. I understand that they think it's cool, but I from my point of view it is really annoying :-(

I know a Mandarin teacher who does this - so she will say thinks like 学校费都change了。

She will be speaking to us in Mandarin but she will substitute English words - Perhaps she thinks it helps our understanding, but unfortunately instead of replacing the difficult Mandarin words by English equivalents, she will replace easy ones eg 重要 by important, and so on. Also since her English accent is not perfect and my brain is trying to hear Mandarin, I quite often think she has said a Mandarin word I don't know but actually its a mangled English attempt.

So again we have the instrument twanging in the background of the reading of the piece, presumably so that we are as distracted as possible to make the article as difficult to understand as possible.

Did I not read somewhere recently that background music was to be eliminated?

Thanks Fiona. You are a breath of fresh air.

The main problem was that the sentence was wrong. I agree that Mandarin learners often understand the difference between the 'de's' better than some native speakers. The same problem sometimes comes in English where native English speakers have never studied English grammar ...

Chinesepod seems to be running two mysteries along side each other: The Dormitory Drama and Ryan's background.

Today we learn that Ryan went to University in Japan, and that he hasn't eaten stuffed peppers.  What next?  Will we ever get a News and Features ....?
