KennyK You have to eat at the markets or just the corner places. I am in Taiwan and surprisingly these places that have no walls or certainly no front wall have good food. My corner lunch spot has large servings of 牛排 niúpái steak 100NT$ 猪排 zhūpái pork 110NT$ 雞排 (S鸡) jīpái chicken 110NT$ 羊排 yángpái lamb 120NT$ 魚排[鱼] yúpái fish 120NT$ about 34NT$ per 1$ US dollar Ken Can you use 幾分 (S几) jǐfēn and the numbering system for the condition of an egg yoke in a fried or boiled egg? Or any other food product ? Also I prefer Traditional Characters and using the fix Dave mentioned on the blog (Simp.) 什么 shénme what became (Very Trad.)甚麽 instead of (Trad.)什麽 I too liked today's lesson and hope we can have more eating lessons. And the photo at the top was great. Hope the CPod team is enjoying the holiday week. Mike in Jubei

Ken Regarding your comment "多少 duōshao - how much/how many" You can't leave all of us hanging with an empty beer mug. Fill up (Trad.) 加滿 jiā mǎn (Simp.) 加 满 jiā mǎn and there is no negotiations on this topic. I always expect my beer mug topped. btw: nice Newbie lesson. Almost like an old "Elle" Mike in Jubei

John A bit of explanation please since I know these dialogues are put together very carefully. Help me ( and perhaps others) understand the difference between Zhang Liang's comments to his dad 爸,你不了解 dad, you don't understand 爸,你不懂 dad, you don't get it Is there meant to be an implied difference in these two responses in Chinese? Also am I right to assume the use of 那個麗麗 ......."that Lili" instead of just .......麗麗 "Lili' meant dad was not too excited about Ms. Lili's involvement with his son ? Please don't lose the writers of this compelling story to some Chinese TV Soap Story. Mike in Jubei

Jenny and Ken I was talking about today's lesson with my Taiwan Office Mate. Regarding gestures he mentioned often when saying cold or hot people will make a hand/arm gesture so cold is left hand and hot is right hand. Same in Shanghai? As to the temperature of drinks; so Ken how do you like your beer after working in +26C weather?

AlexYe Yum Yum (Trad.) 水 餃 shuǐjiǎo (Simp.) 水 饺 shuǐjiǎo Unlike Jenny my limit is more like 10 per beer. So usually the beer limits the number of 水 餃

I was a bit surprised today in the expanded section regarding the use of : 麻烦 without 对不起. Really? you would push your way through or tell someone (stranger) to wait without a 对不起 ? The lesson was great. I know this was only sleeping baby but please do more lessons on food. Jenny a nice wait to remember the differences between eating those little dumplings and sleeping. btw- How many do you eat at a single sitting?

Elle's who prefer Traditional Characters. I had time today and did this lesson and the one before. I hope this is not a problem since from here you can even cut and paste. The Clogged Toilet (Traditional Characters) A: 是物業嗎? B: 對。什麼事? A: 我的馬桶堵住了。麻煩來看一下。 B: 你試過用馬桶拔嗎? A: 試過了。没用。 B: 好,我們現在就來。
