May 29, 2009 at 3:29 PMThere are some very delicate and wonderful black (红茶) teas in China. I have had some from Jiangsu and Fujian provinces. This tea infuser is a great way to brew the tea. It brews in the upper level, then after a few minutes push the button to let the tea into the lower chamber.
I also enjoy green tea, but to get fresh tea from a merchant, it should come from a freezer. (unless it is springtime and the tea is known to have just arrived).

It seems that the 4th tone bie was simplified from a different character: 彆.

May 11, 2009 at 12:49 AMI have recently done this lesson, since it was "suggested" to me by Cpod. Some of the expansion translations could use some polishing. Also, the mouse over of 别扭 in the dialogues and expansion sections shows bie2niu3 rather than the correct bie4niu3 , which is correct in the vocab section.
Beware, this is a high level intermediate lesson, and the exercises are in tiny size font. I had to get out my special reading glasses. :)

I wanted to follow up on your comment about not playing the old songs. I recently attended a couple of events in Zhejiang 浙江 that included some musical entertainment. One include the guzheng 古筝 player below, from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She played very nicely, but almost no one in the audience paid any attention to her. Those performers dancing and singing more modern songs got a little more attention.
Also, if I am not mistaken, in the distant past, poetry, calligraphy and guqin 古琴 regularly went together.
