i concur! i love the interviews. the real non-scripted stuff is very useful. though the media/advanced lessons are non-scripted, the teachers are super-skillful at talking to chinese language learners, whereas listening/understanding non-teachers is a greater challenge.

i like to ask service workers about their work schedules. i find a lot of waiters (and like positions) get something like 3-4 days a month of rest and usually work 9-12 hours a day. Usually 12 hours.

Some more skilled jobs get paid a little more. But some of my students who worked as waiters/waitresses got about 20-35 Yuan a day. (This is Anhui Province)

I talked with a boss from Shangahi last week, and he said a waiter at a decent restaurant would not make 2000 Yuan a month.

That's what I'm doing right now. I will memorize an intermediate lesson in one day, and then spend 2 or 3 days memorizing an upper intermediate. By the time I have both the intermediate and the upper intermediate down, a new intermediate lesson is released and the process repeats. It is definitely a good way to ease your way into upper intermediate once the intermediate lessons are getting a bit too easy.
