Actually, I stand by that old chestnut: as long as you do it right, any color scheme can be pretty. And these days interior designers are really getting into pluralism. Recently I've handled several houses that had that kind of design and the results were all really good. I think the colors your wife likes would be good in the bedroom, and the colors you like would be good for a study.
